Terms of Service

Motocamp · Last updated: 9 November 2026

1. Agreement

By using the Motocamp website or app ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service. Motocamp is run by Phoenix Heavy Industries Pty Ltd ("we", "us"). You can reach us at support@motocamp.org: Josh Lees, Motocamp.

2. Who can use it

The Service is for people 18 and over. By using it you confirm you are 18 or over.

3. What the Service is, and isn't

Motocamp brings together camping, road, weather, cell coverage and points-of-interest information from public and community sources. They are named under Third-party data. All of it is shared as-is, for planning:

4. Accounts

Motocamp needs an account. You sign up with an email address and password, or with Google, and new accounts start with a free trial. Some older accounts sign in with a username instead. Please keep your sign-in details to yourself; you're responsible for what happens under your account. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Account, then Delete account).

5. Subscriptions and how to cancel

Paid features are unlocked per account, and the price and trial are shown before you pay. Who bills you depends on where you subscribed:

Deleting your Motocamp account does not stop a Google Play or App Store subscription, so cancel it in that store first. Money-back requests are handled under the rules of whichever of Stripe, Google Play or the App Store billed you; write to support@motocamp.org about anything billed on the website.

6. Offline data

Offline maps, routes and place data you download are stored on your device so they work with no signal. They are a snapshot from the day you downloaded them, so check for updates before a big trip. Downloaded data is for your own use in the Service and stays under the licences named in section 9.

7. Fair use

8. What you post, and what isn't allowed

Reviews, dog reports, site reports and places you add are public: other people see them with your display name. A route you share by link can be read by anyone who has the link, along with the name you gave it and the first name you added. You keep ownership of what you post, and you grant us the licence we need to store, show and adapt it in the Service.

We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. Objectionable content includes hate speech or attacks on people for who they are; threats, harassment or bullying; sexual content; violence; anything that endangers children; anything against the law; other people's private details; spam and advertising; and anything false posted to mislead. Abusive users are people who post these things or who target someone with them.

How to report it: tap the flag on any review, report or added place, use Report this reply on a Plan with AI answer, or use Report this link on a shared route. Tapping the hide button next to the flag (Hide this person's posts) removes everything that person posts from your account, on every device, and you can undo it in Account. You can also write to support@motocamp.org.

Moderation and removal: notes, place names, access details and shared route names are screened before they appear, and one that fails is held back for a person to read. Accounts we have marked as trusted contributors are the one exception: their posts still go up, and what the screen said about them is recorded for us to check. A report hides a post straight away while we review it. We remove objectionable content and close the accounts of abusive users, without notice, and we keep the right to remove any post at any time.

Places you add to the map

You can add a camp, dump station, water point or rest area that the map is missing, and confirm or correct places other campers have added. That work is public: it goes on the map for everyone, credited to your display name.

You keep ownership of what you add. You grant Motocamp a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, publish, adapt and distribute it as part of the app and its data. You confirm the information is yours to give and that adding it breaks no law or agreement.

Only add a place you know it is legal to stop at. Whether a stop is permitted is yours to check, not ours; a place being on the map is not permission to use it.

We may remove any contribution at any time, for any reason, without notice. We do not guarantee that camper-added places are accurate, current, legal or safe. A place nobody has confirmed is shown as unconfirmed, and that label is doing real work: treat it as a tip from a stranger, not a fact.

If you own or manage land that a camper has added, write to support@motocamp.org and we will remove it. We do not ask you to prove anything first.

9. Third-party data & attribution

We use open and public data. Each source keeps its own licence. Credit that would normally sit on the map lives in the in-app User Guide under "Map data & credits", and in the list below. Their licences still apply.

A machine-readable note of which files carry which licence is in data/LICENSE.md in the source tree.

10. Disclaimer and limit of liability

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ACCURACY, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR AVAILABILITY. AS FAR AS THE LAW ALLOWS, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM. These Terms do not take away any rights that the law in your country gives you and that cannot be excluded.

11. Ending your use

We may suspend or close an account that goes against these Terms. You can stop using the Service and delete your account whenever you like.

12. Changes

We may update these Terms. We'll note significant changes in the app or by email, and carrying on after that means you accept them.

13. Governing law and contact

These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia, where the operator, Phoenix Heavy Industries Pty Ltd, is registered. Questions: Josh Lees, Motocamp. support@motocamp.org
